The Brookside Motorsports team made it's second appearance of the season at Illiana Motor Speedway on July 18, 2009.  Sean Matthuis, driving the Pizza Mia, 815-MULCH-IT, AB Resources, and Berkots Food #0 qualified 5th fastest (out of 20 competitors).  After the 8 lap heat race, some adjustments were made to tire air pressures to help with handling and we waited for the feature.

The 35 lap Molenar Memorial began with Sean starting 3rd row inside.  The car had worked best all night in the "second grove" (outside lane), and for the beginning of the feature, it was no different... it just didn't like being pinned down to the white line at the bottom of the track.   The car wouldn't let Sean get in and out of the corners very well in the early part of the race, and he slipped to 10th and settled in.  At lap 20, the car began to "come in" and carefully Sean picked off the 9th and 8th place cars, taking over 8th position with the white flag flying.  Finishing 8th and bringing the car home in one piece was a huge "success" and made for a satisfying night for the whole team.
